Key to this discussion paper is the recognition that India has various barriers that need to be addressed in order to achieve AI goals. Some of the barriers include lack of expertise in research and application to AI, absence of enabling data systems, low awareness to AI and high resource costs, privacy and security issues including inadequate regulations pertaining to anonymity of data, and lack of an effective collaborative approach to the adoption and application of AI.
