The Act governs the regulation of the telecommunication industry in Singapore. It provides, amongst others, for the Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA) to grant licences, issue directions and codes of practice and standards of performance in connection with the ownership/operation of telecommunication systems, provision of telecommunication services and the conduct of licensees in the provision of such services. It empowers the IMDA to take enforcement action for any breach of regulatory obligations.
